Mills to lead Primary Gold

Primary Gold has promoted Garry Mills to the role of managing director, nearly a year after his predecessor resigned, with the company also foreshadowing a board shake-up in the coming months.

Mr Mills, who is also a general manager at Northern Star Resources, joined the board of Primary in March last year, at the same time Clay Gordon resigned as managing director and two other company shareholders were appointed to the board.

Mr Mills will begin in his new role on March 1, and will be paid a base salary of $350,000 per annum including superannuation.

It is not yet known if Mr Mills will end his duties at Northern Star.

He has also previously served as operations manager at Dominion Mining, and was chief operating officer of Norseman Gold.

Mr Mills’ appointment came as the Perth-based explorer also foreshadowed a review and shake-up of its board structure.

“With the appointment of Garry as managing director, the company will be evaluating the current board composition over the coming months to ensure the appropriate mix of skills and experience are represented,” Primary said in a statement.

Primary owns its Toms Gully project in the Northern Territory and its Coolgardie project in the Goldfields.

Primary shares were 5 per cent higher to 8.4 cents each at 11:30am.
