Perth Airport is the fourth most punctual out of the seven largest in Australia, according to an annual survey compiled by global travel data provider OAG.

Around 82 per cent of flights at Perth were categorised as on-time, 5.84 per cent more punctual than Sydney Airport, Australia’s largest, but 1.76 per cent less punctual than Cairns Airport, which came first out of the Australian airports.

Perth also finished below Adelaide and Brisbane, but above Melbourne and the Gold Coast.

All of the Australian airports saw a reduction in their on-time percentage compared to last year.

Qantas led the domestic-based airlines for punctuality, with 85.65 per cent of flights on-time in 2018, which placed it third in the Asia-Pacific region and sixth in the world.

Virgin Australia  came second in the country with 78.32 per cent, Jetstar Airways third with 74.33 per cent, and Tigerair Australia rounded out the top four with 69.35 per cent of flights on-time.

Hong Kong Airlines topped the global rankings with 88.76 per cent.
