THE Western Australian Government has released a report outlining new directions for improving the State’s mental health legislation.
Called The Way Forward, the report outlines 172 recommendations arising from the independent review of the Mental Health Act chaired by Professor D’Arcy Holman.
Health Minister Jim McGinty wants public comment on the recommendations before a final report is presented to Government in late November.
The report is available online at www.health.wa.gov.au/mhareview or by telephone on 9222 5440.
Public submissions close on November 7 and should be sent to the Review of the Mental Health Act and Criminal Law (Mentally Impaired Defendants) Act, Level 11, 2 Havelock Street, West Perth WA 6005.
