PERTH insolvency firm Melsom Robson has joined the Sydney-based Jones Condon group and in future will trade under that name.
The firm has also fore-shadowed changes among its partners, with founding partner Peter Melsom planning to retire at the end of the financial year.
It is expected that Karl Huxtable will be invited to join the partnership as part of the firm’s longer term succession plan.
He will join current partners George Lopez and Evan Verge.
Melsom Robson, which has been trading since 1978, has 13 professional staff working in insolvency, making it the 10th largest insolvency firm in Perth, according to WA Business News’ 2005 Book of Lists.
Mr Lopez said he didn’t expect any changes in the day-to-day running of the firm.
However, he did anticipate benefiting from a greater marketing focus, better access to training resources and more interstate and national appointments.
Jones Condon, which has about 30 staff in Sydney, has recently acquired a majority stake in a Melbourne practice, which plans to adopt the national brand.
It is looking at opportunities in Brisbane and Adelaide.
