LISTED Perth health care equipment company Medec Ltd has signed a heads of agreement with a company in Liechtenstein to market its Calorie-Fit system. The agreement gives Trade and Finance Consultancy exclusive rights to develop the sales and marketing infrastructure for Calorie-Fit within the European Union (with the exception of UK and Eire). The Calorie-Fit measures people’s metabolic rate using technology called indirect calorimetry. This technique provides an objective assessment before individual dietary advice is offered. Obesity is often referred to as a metabolism disorder, and Calorie-Fit allows health practitioners to accurately monitor resting and exercise meta-bolism. Medec chief executive Dermot Patterson said he expected to have the infr-astructure phase (under way now) completed by the end of November, so delivery of the product to customers could start during the first quarter in 2006. “The Medec Calorie-Fit system will help to address a growing market demand,” he said. “This science-based measuring device will greatly aid in the fight to overcome overweight and obesity that has grown to epidemic proportions in all developed countries.”
