McKinnon moves on

AUSTAL managing director Bob McKinnon has announced his intention to resign from the ship builder effective June 30 2005.

Mr McKinnon cites his interest in pursuing other opportunities as his reason for resigning, along with the long-term commitment that will be needed to take Austal to its next level.

He has spent six years with the company.

In other movement news, Peter Collins (pictured), the friendly face that often greeted journalists at Clough press conferences and fielded their tough questions behind the scenes, is moving on to a new challenge within the engineering business.His corporate affairs is being taken over by Robert Ash, allowing Mr Collins the opportunity to focus on some business development ideas he has been harbouring for the past two years. Mr Ash, who was due to take over from Mr Collins next year was called back off holiday to handle a couple of sticky announcements for the engineering company relating to BassGas cashing in a performance option and a $280 million contract Clough won in India.
