has recently joined Austrade as state manager. Well known by Perth exporters, Ms Matthews joined the Department of Foreign Affairs 20 years ago as a graduate recruit in the Canberra office. Since that time she has done stints in Bangkok, Melbourne, and Jakarta. In 1997, she became the WA state director for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, a position she held until mid last year when she was seconded to the Perth office of law firm Freehills. The secondment was part of a national bid by the DFAT to increase awareness of World Trade organisation rules and their impact on Australian business.
