Marlston Hill award cause to celebrate

CELEBRATIONS are ongoing in Bunbury over a national award granted by the Urban Development Institute of Australia for the Marlston Hill urban renewal project.

Unveiling a special plaque celebrating the win, Lands Minister Doug Shave said Marlston Hill was not simply a quick fix to rid Bunbury of an industrial eyesore.

“It is a strategically planned redevelopment to bring economic and social benefits to the local community, to Bunbury and to the South West region.” Mr Shave said.

“Listening to residents, local government, and business meant LandCorp’s major urban and regional projects division understood the Bunbury social and economic environment,” Mr Shave said.

“This understanding produced workable solutions to complex development issues and helped generate the community pride that we see here today.
