Mansell joins Hanlong Mining

Hanlong Mining has appointed former WA Newspapers and Western Power chairman Peter Mansell to help achieve the company's aspirations of becoming a large international mining house.

Mr Mansell has been appointed as Hanlong Mining chairman and head of iron ore operations.

Hanlong Group chairman Liu Han said the group was "extremely pleased" to have lured Mr Mansell to Hanlong Mining.

"Mr Mansell's industry experience and his impeccable track record will be invaluable to Hanlong. Hanlong is a relatively new company in the international mining industry," Mr Han said in a statement released today.

"While Hanlong has made a strong start through our investments in Moly Mines, General Moly and Marenica Energy, our longer term aspiration is to become a large international mining house with key assets in iron ore, uranium and molybdenum.

"Under Mr Mansell's leadership, I believe Hanlong Mining will succeed in achieving our strategic objectives."

Mr Mansell said the appointment was one of the most exciting he has ever had.

"The opportunity to join a fantastic team of people in a company with such promising prospects and at such a very early stage, is very rare," he said.

"I look forward to leading these new, large and ambitious initiatives enormously."
