Pitcher Partners managing director Bryan Hughes has announced he will move on to chair the Perth-headquartered firm, with executive director Leon Mok to step into his role.

From next week, Mr Hughes will become executive chairman of the accounting, audit and advisory firm.

In a statement, he said Pitcher Partners’ restructuring and insolvency team had dealt with significant matters in the past year, including assignments in the oil and gas, technology and hard rock resources sectors.

“We are now focusing on growing our leading tax, audit, advisory and private clients practice to the same level of market share and prominence as our business restructuring and insolvency service,” Mr Hughes said.

“We can see the market evolving and we want to stay ahead of that curve.”

Commenting on his new role, Mr Mok said he was stepping in at a time when Pitcher Partners was adding to its number of executive directors and seeking to expand its advisory work and other offerings.

“As the market turns, we are delivering the deep technical thinking and broad expertise that clients are looking for right now,” he said.

“There has been a shift in demand from clients away from immediate problem solving to asking, ‘what next’, and that’s the kind of leadership our team excels in providing.”
