Planning Minister John Day has announced a $10 million works program which will deliver the Perth City Link’s first development sites and public spaces.
Mr Day said the development sites at the western end of the project area would be ideal for a new hotel development to support Perth Arena.
Mr Day said the public space would incorporate artworks and water features with a distinctly Australian theme.
“Work to deliver the Perth City Link is well under way – earlier this year, demolition of the Perth Entertainment Centre commenced and the state government awarded a $360 million contract for the rail component of the project,” Mr Day said.
“By the end of 2011 the Entertainment Centre demolition will be complete, making way for a mixed use development. Major construction works to sink the rail line will also have begun.
“Perth City Link will inject new life into the city and completely transform the way people interact with the city.”
