Macmahon wins $50m contract extension

Perth-based Macmahon Holdings has been awarded a $50 million share of a $112 million rail contract extension by the New South Wales Government.

The extension is for a package of works within the Glenfield Transport Interchange in Sydney's western suburbs.

The alliance team will construct the Southern Flyover as part of the GTI development, in partnership with the Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDC).

In a statement Macmahon said the project will start immediately.

It is scheduled for completion in 2013.

Macmahon chief executive officer Nick Bowen said the contract extension demonstrated the success of the alliance and the strong working relationship forged with TIDC.

"Having worked in partnership with TIDC to deliver the initial northern package of the interchange project, we are very pleased to continue our relationship on the southern component," he said.

The alliance is made up of TIDC, Macmahon and its subsidiary MVM Rail, French construction group Bouygues and Parsons Brinckerhoff.
