Maca earmarked for $100m contract

MACA has been named preferred contractor for a $100 million open pit mining services job at Ramelius Resources’ Mt Magnet gold project.

Perth-based Maca said today the project would consist of open-pit services including drilling, blasting, loading and hauling, with work to begin next month assuming finalisation of contract terms.

Work will be carried out over nearly three years, with revenue of about $100 million to be generated for the mining and civil contractor.

Maca also announced today it expects to reap about $49 million in revenue from its 15-month bulk earthworks contract for Gold Road Resources’ Gruyere gold project, for which the company was named preferred contractor in April.

Maca director Geoff Baker said the two projects, plus a $10 million contract at Northern Minerals’ Browns Range heavy rare earths pilot project (announced in May), had resulted in three new clients for the company over the past quarter.

“We look forward to working closely together to ensure mutual success,” he said.

Maca shares were 3.2 per cent higher to $1.58 each at 11am.
