An issues paper on the minerals resource rent tax is expected to be released soon ahead of the first meeting of the federal government's Policy Transition Group in Perth in nine days time.
The issue's papers is expected to further assist the development of recommendations for the government in the implementation of the MRRT and stakeholders will be invited to make formal submissions to the group.
Yesterday, it was announced the group would hold its first meeting in Perth on October 7 and 8.
The co-chairs of the Group, Resources Minister Martin Ferguson and former BHP chairman Don Argus, have written to the key stakeholders on the process.
Next week's meeting in Perth will cover iron ore, oil and gas.
The group will then move to Brisbane, where coal, oil and gas will be discussed.
Then the Group will hold meetings in Melbourne (Oct 29), Sydney (Nov 3 and 4) and Adelaide (Nov 5).
