MMA wins $30m defence contract

Marine services contractor MMA Offshore has secured $30 million worth of work to provide familiarisation services for the Royal Australian Navy on robotic, remote and autonomous marine systems.

The Australian Department of Defence contracted MMA for the provision of a vessel, broad range of robotic and autonomous systems, and to provide familiarisation and practical learning services to navy personnel.

It will include generic autonomous, uncrewed and deep-ocean systems for geospatial data gathering, seabed feature identification and marine hydrographic survey services, according to MMA.

The scope of work will be delivered over an eight-month term, delivering about $30 million in revenue for the ASX-listed marine services provider.

“MMA is thrilled to be able to leverage its experience in marine robotic, remote and autonomous technologies to support the Royal Australian Navy’s familiarisation and practical learning objectives,” MMA managing director David Ross said.

“This award aligns with MMA’s strategy of extending its marine and subsea capability into the government and defence sector, and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the Department of Defence and the Royal Australian Navy.”

MMA’s shares were trading up slightly by 0.39 per cent to $1.285 at 13:30PM AWST.
