DENIS Ryan has taken a position as managing director of stockbroking firm DJ Carmichael.
Moving from Perpetual, where he was regional manager for four years, Mr Ryan will oversee all operations of the firm which, among traditional stockbroking services, also includes corporate services, financial planning and online research.
“I will continue to develop our existing relationships and build new ones in this changing financial services environment,” he says.
Mr Ryan says the financial services sector landscape was undergoing change and that many companies are not adjusting to the new financial services climate.
“Too many companies are trying to expand into services without a proper understanding of what their business is and how it can meet client needs,” he says.
“A lot of people try to do a whole lot of things. You can be too many things to too many people.
Mr Ryan says that, for a business to succeed, a firm understanding of what that business is and how to provide quality customer service is needed. And says he can provide that service to DJ Carmichael’s clients.
“I have a very good understanding of what DJ Carmichael are trying to do,” Mr Ryan says.
Mr Ryan is also chairman of Foodbank WA, a charity organisation, and is on the board of Foodbank Australia.
The organisation functions as a collection point for food produce, which is then distributed across the country to those in need.
Mr Ryan says the organisation has become a significant not-for-profit venture
