Lycopodium close to $64m Newmont deal

East Perth-based Lycopodium has taken a step towards winning a $64 million contract to develop Newmont Mining's Akyem project in West Africa.

In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Lycopodium said it has received a Limited Notice to Proceed from Newmont.

Newmont's board is expected to make a final decision on the contract in the coming month.

"Lycopodium will provide engineering, procurement, project and construction management services for the greenfield treatment plant and infrastructure development," the statement said.

Lycopodium recently completed its portion of the Stage Gate 4 Study for the project.

The engineering contractor previously provided EPCM services to Newmont for their Ahafo Project in Ghana.
