Perth-based company Lycopodium has been appointed as lead engineer and author for a pre-feasibility study at Jervois Mining’s Nico Young cobalt-nickel project in NSW.

The Nico Young project is located in New South Wales.

Perth-based company Lycopodium has been appointed as lead engineer and author for a pre-feasibility study at Jervois Mining’s Nico Young cobalt-nickel project in NSW.

The study, which will assess the economic viability of a heap leach project at the site, is set to be completed in the third quarter of 2018.

Jervois said in a statement to the ASX that the engineering company was well-equipped to complete the study.

Lycopodium has extensive study and project experience across all the relevant unit operations for the Nico Young heap leach, providing a strong basis for successful PFS delivery,” the company said.

“They were chosen due to their strong track record not only with project studies – but across construction and operating implementation phases.

“Their team has a detailed understanding of project delivery in NSW including regional contractor capabilities across all disciplines.”

The news comes after Lycopodium was recently awarded a contract for design work at Nzuri Copper’s Kalongwe operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
