Luk convicted, resigns from Brockman

Brockman Mining chief executive officer Peter Luk has resigned today after his conviction in a Hong Kong court yesterday.

The company issued a release this morning announcing Mr Luk’s resignation, saying he had been convicted of offences under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance and the Crime Ordinance by the District Court of Hong Kong.

The offenses pre-dated his appointment to the board and do not relate to the affairs of the company, Brockman said, and the conviction by Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption was a personal matter.

The company is dual listed on the ASX and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The board of the Perth-based company said the resignation would not have a material adverse impact on the company’s operations or finances.

Business News reported in April that Brockman has been looking to Gina Rinehart's Roy Hill project for use of its rail network, and has also been in negotiations with Fortescue Metals Group for rail usage to its Marillana project.
