Business nous in Bunbury
The Lighter Note stumbled across this sandwich board (pictured) while passing through Bunbury on a trip to see first-hand how business was going outside of Perth.
If the creative thinking behind this photo is anything to go by, ‘business nous’ is alive and well in the state’s third biggest city.
This particular message casts its net wide enough to draw in just about all men; whom The Note presumes is its intended audience.
Perhaps the florist in question is aware of the statistics to come out of America showing women buy about two-thirds of ‘cut flowers’ (bouquets rather than plants), leaving the traditional image of men buying women flowers in question.
Understatements of 2009
While the record $57.5 million sale of Angela Bennett’s Mosman Park mansion to Chris Ellison created headlines around the country, it was the understatements of those involved in the transaction that really interests The Note.
Mr Ellison is reportedly stunned at the publicity the house purchase attracted, describing it as just “ a really nice family home”.
The Note can’t begin to imagine what price Mr Ellison would pay for an ‘over-the-top’ house.
Selling agent Willie Porteous matched the understatement by saying he was “pretty happy” with the sale… and the commission that goes with it, no doubt.
