Ross Garnaut was in town this week spruiking the delights of climate change and sparking an adverse reaction and calls for calm from the state and federal opposition. But at least two former leading Libs might be hoping Professor Garnaut gets his way. Ex-senator and former environment minister Ian Campbell (pictured) made his point in a newspaper article this weekend, backing the anointed climate doctor. The Note remembers, of course, that Mr Campbell has a big interest in this field through his involvement with Claremont start-up AusCarbon, which hopes to sell carbon credits by growing native woodlands. And then there’s former state Liberal leader Matt Birney. He’s chairing Carbon Conscious Ltd which has also been hitting the hustings this past week promoting its own answer to climate change.
