LEIGHTON Services, a subsidiary of Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd, has acquired the business and assets of AMEC Engineering’s technical services (ATS) and engineering and construction divisions.
Both divisions were wholly owned subsidiaries of AMEC plc, an international project management and services company, headquartered in the UK and listed on the London Stock Exchange.
The sale, however, does not include AMEC’s South-East Asian oil and gas business, which has its regional head-quarters in Perth.
Both divisions will be re-named as part of the acquisition. The Adelaide-based AMEC Engineering will become May-field and the Perth-based ATS will become Metlabs, reverting to names by which they were known for over 60 years, prior to their acquisition by AMEC.
Following the acquisition, Leighton Services expects annual turnover to be approximately $350 million.
Under the agreement, all 500 staff will be transferred across to the new entities. Leighton Services now employs over 700 staff in total.
