LEE Hall and her husband, Damian, established Chica Catering in 2004 with one vehicle and a menu limited to platters for private functions.
But a favour to a friend to cater for her birthday party acted as a catalyst for Chica signing on with its first major corporate client, which fast tracked the business’s exposure to a wide range of potential clients in the corporate market. Through referrals and recommendations, the business began steady growth, enabling Mrs Hall — trained as a chef — to hire staff, expand menu options, and better market the business.
Chica is now an all-encompassing catering service, not only providing food and beverages but also wait and bar staff, event managers and equipment to hire for either private or corporate functions. Chica has also formed a partnership with integrated facilities management service Coffee Fresh, which has helped to further expand the business’s reach in the corporate market.
