Consumer Protection has advised against taking up invitations to acquire one square inch of land in the Holy Garden of Peace at Bethlehem’s First Baptist Church, for US$100.
The invitations, from the church pastor, offer an 'Honourable Sponsorship Certificate', but Consumer Protection warns "Australian consumers will probably only wind up with a worthless piece of paper, if that".
Consumer Protection, which is investigating the offer, says foreigners may not be permitted to participate in land investments in Israel.
Information relating to suspected scams can be reported to Consumer Protection’s WAScamNet via firstname.lastname@example.org.
