* COUNCIL has appointed Lakis Constructions to build its new works depot in Osborne Park for $2.2 million.
Lakis will build the new administration, stores and amenities building and conduct extensive alterations to the existing mechanical workshop area.
The existing carpenters, plumbers and welding shops will be demolished along with the archives building to allow a substantial reduction in the site area occupied and allow the parking of council’s plant and equipment in the reduced space.
* COUNCIL has given HIH Construction the job of building its multi-storey car park at 221 Royal Street, East Perth. The company will be paid about $5.8 million to do the job.
The car park is expected to hold more than 300 cars and meet the predicted parking shortfall in the area.
