LNG headquarters in Perth

WA’s role as a world class exporter of LNG to key Asia markets has been enhanced by the opening of the Australia LNG headquarters in Perth, according to Resource Development Minister Colin Barnett.

Mr Barnett said ALNG was established to provide Australian gas resource owners with a united front when dealing in key Asian markets.

The minister commented that ALNG had already established a presence in the key markets of India, China, Taiwan and Korea.

“The presence of ALNG in Perth can only help in the development of WA’s position as a world class exporter of LNG.” Mr Barnett said.

In another positive development for the industry, Mr Barnett announced a confirmation of intent between ALNG and Indian company Gopalpur LNG.

Gopalpur LNG wants to import LNG to Orissa State on the east coast of India for use in power generation and industrial and town gas supply.

“This agreement represents another important realising a very significant trade deal between India and Australia.” Mr Barnett said.
