Korea cooperates

COOPERATION between Australia and the Republic of Korea in e-commerce and information technology is set to reach new heights with the announcement of a set of common principles.

A statement detailing policy principles and areas for future cooperation has been endorsed by Prime Minister John Howard and President Kim Dae-jung.

It records a commitment to improving international protections for intellectual property, privacy and consumer rights.

Minister for Communications, Inform-ation Technology and the Arts Senator Richard Alston said the statement confirmed the importance both countries placed on international alliances to accelerate development of e-commerce.
