Korab Resources boss Andrej Karpinski has threatened legal action against online stock market discussion site HotCopper over a report sent to the forum’s members.
HotCopper managing director Gred D’Arcy said today he had received warning from Korab’s lawyers regarding possible legal action in WA’s Supreme Court over the report, which detailed legal action being taken by Mr Karpinski against Korab shareholders.
Mr Karpinski is seeking damages for defamation he claims he suffered as a result of criticism posted on HotCopper.
Mr D'Arcy said a letter received from Perth-based lawyer Martin Bennet said Mr Karpinski was well within his rights to vindicate his reputation and seek compensation as well as payment of his legal fees.
Mr Karpinski will also lodge an official complaint against the website through the Australian Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr D’Arcy said HotCopper would defend any legal action issued against it by Korab and Mr Karpinski.
