KIN Mining has poured first gold at its Leonora project in the Goldfields, as part of a trial program.

Kin said today about 15,000 tonnes of ore was mined, trucked and toll milled in Kalgoorlie, generating two gold pours with another expected later this week.

The first pour formed part of Kin’s trial mining program at Leonora.

Executive director Trevor Dixon said the achievement demonstrated the company’s ability to take a trial project from design, permitting and mine development, through to the production of bullion, and also further de-risked Leonora.

“This is a major step forward on Kin’s path to commercial production,” he said.

“Albeit a smaller scale, the principles remain the same in terms of the future development of Leonora.”

Kin plans to spend $55 million to bring the mine into full-scale production, which includes building processing infrastructure.

Kin shares were unchanged at 22.5 cents each at 11:30am.
