KIMBERLEY Diamond Company has posted record production from its first production block at the Ellendale Pipe 4, 140km east of Derby.
The production grade of 43.15 carats per 100 tonnes achieved at the site compares with the previously reported resource grade of 11.7 carats per 100t.
The company commenced mining the site this month with processing also under way at Kimberley’s West Plant.
Kimberley’s geologists had earlier reported that Ellendale 4 contained 2.2 million tonnes at a grade of 11.7 carats/100t for 257,000 carats, however they indicated that other areas could contain further high-grade mineralisation.
