Kentor Gold says production is set to commence at its Murchison gold project after appointing Minepower as open pit mining contractor.

Kentor said mobilisation of the mining equipment was now underway, with mining scheduled to commence in late March, subject to final approvals.

Terms of the mining contract were not disclosed.

The Perth-based company is targeting an initial production rate of 24,000 ounces of gold per year from its Burnakura mine at Murchison.

Kentor also said today that refurbishment of the processing plant for the project was on schedule and anticipated to be ready for commissioning mid-March.

At close of trade today, Kentor stocks nudged up slightly to $1.45.
