Kalassay sold for $26.5m

WESTERN Australia’s biggest independent assay group, Kalgoorlie-based Kalassay Group, was sold this week to a company controlled by UK company Inspicio Group for $26.5 million. The sale further rationalises the sector, with the Eldridge family selling its leading analytical laboratory group, Ultra Trace Pty Ltd to Victorian rival Amdel Ltd in August 2007, while Genalysis was picked up in April last year by Caleb Brett Minerals, a division of UK-based Intertek Group. Kalassay’s main facility is located in Kalgoorlie but operates laboratories in Midvale and Leonora. Former owner Tony White and his team will remain working within the business.
