Title: General manager infrastructure
Andrea Sutton completed a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Melbourne and joined Rio Tinto (formerly CRA) in 1994.
After several years in the advanced technical development business unit, she transferred to Queensland Coal Mines, where she undertook a variety of positions from process engineering through to maintenance manager.
In 2003, Ms Sutton transferred to Rio Tinto Hamersley Iron as maintenance manager for Dampier (and later Cape Lambert) ports.
In 2005, she took on a new role as general manager infrastructure, which was designed to help the rapidly growing operations in the Pilbara.
Ms Sutton has overall responsibilities for utilities, particularly for the power generation, transmission and distribution, also for water and wastewater as well as town facilities and housing within Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Pilbara residential operations and towns.
