A PLAN to guide and control land use and development within the City of Joondalup was launched last week by Planning Minister Graham Kierath.
Mr Kierath said the new scheme was necessary for the City because of its fast growth.
“The City of Joondalup is now mostly fully developed which means that future planning will need to resolve around consolidation, infill and redevelopment,” he said.
“It caters for the changing nature of Joondalup with the objective of maintaining the city as the strategic regional centre of the north-west corridor.”
More than 800 amendments to the previous scheme have been made to keep pace with the changes in Joondalup.
At the last census the population of the area as almost 143,000 with projections to increase by a further 12,000 by the end of next year.
