Jones launches boardroom battle at Troy

The former chairman of West Perth-based Troy Resources, John Jones, has launched a bid to remove three of the explorer's directors, including chief executive Paul Benson.

In a notice to the stock exchange, Mr Jones, through his company Warrigal Pty Ltd, has called for a shareholders meeting to seek the removal of founding director Alan Naylor, long-time director Denis Clarke and Mr Benson.

Mr Jones has called for all three directors to be replaced by Peter Stern, Robin Parsh and Andrew Barclay.

Troy said it will review the requisition and provide an update shortly.

Mr Jones had been chairman until late last year.

Shares in Troy closed down four cents to $2.39 today.
