It was after a worldwide inspection tour of similar facilities, that the Department of Commerce and Trade developed criteria “essential for a world class fabrication and maintenance complex catering to the needs of the ship repair, oil and gas, mineral resources and maritime sectors”. Mr Cowan said WA companies would be able to compete more effectively to manufacture and repair large-scale equipment for customers not only in WA, but also other states and overseas.
