Craigcare has appointed local builder Jaxon to deliver its third aged care facility in Western Australia, located on Grandstand Road in Ascot.

Construction on Craigcare’s new Ascot facility is expected to start this month with completion anticipated for mid-2019.

Craigcare has appointed local builder Jaxon to deliver its third aged care facility in Western Australia, located on Grandstand Road in Ascot.

The new $35 million five-storey facility will accommodate 164 single rooms, each with dedicated ensuites.

All residents will also have access to modern facilities including communal lounge and dining areas, landscaped courtyards, a cinema and a café, with construction expected to commence later this month with completion anticipated for mid-2019.

Craigcare chief executive Tony Stephenson said the Ascot project marked a significant milestone for the provider’s aged care facilities developments portfolio as its third facility in WA, with existing properties in Maylands and Albany, and eighth nationally.

“At a local level, Craigcare Ascot will address a substantial percentage of current and future demands for aged care accommodation within the Ascot catchment area,” Mr Stephenson said.

“In appointing Jaxon, Craigcare sought a reputable and well established construction company with a demonstrable portfolio of high quality projects throughout (the) WA marketplace.

“Craigcare believe a well delivered building is vital for post-construction occupancy and facility operations and are confident Jaxon will facilitate achieving this objective.”

Jaxon business development manager Travis Harvey said the business was looking forward to working with Craigcare.

“Our highly skilled project team has been working with the Craigcare and consultant team for an extended period of time under and ECI approach sharing our knowledge and recent project experience to ensure value-driven outcomes,” Mr Harvey said.

“Not many aged care facilities are delivered under design and construct contracts in WA and the signing of this contract highlights that such an approach is not just possible but also an avenue for capturing construction smarts earlier on in the design process.”

Jaxon will celebrate 60 years of operations this September and is currently in 11th place on the BNiQ Search Engine’s list of construction companies, as ranked by total combined value of current WA projects.

Major projects Jaxon has under construction include Stirling Capital’s $90 million Cirque apartments project in Mount Pleasant, the $80 million Mantra Hotel on Hay Street and Edge Visionary Living’s $70 million Botanical apartments project in Jolimont.
