Initial airport proposal out

THE Perth International Airport Terminal remodelling proposal is in its initial stage, according to a spokeswoman for Westralia Airports Corporation director of engineering and maintenance Torben Petersen.

Mr Petersen will discuss this and other aviation industry issues at the WA Infrastructure 2000 forum on July 17-18 at the Sheraton Perth.

He will review 1999 in terms of aviation growth, passenger numbers, monthly aircraft movements and the number of inbound and outbound passengers.

Mr Petersen will also discuss new market opportunities for the WA aviation industry and new infrastructure to support the growth and business needs of WA.

Catering for the Olympics, the impact of increased competition in the Australian domestic airline market and the layout of runways and aprons will be examined.

Department of Transport WA director of aviation policy Nick Belyea will also address the forum on the Regional Airport Development Scheme and remote community aerodromes and air access.

The forum will feature key contributions from companies including Anaconda Nickel, CMS Energy and the Sea Freight Council of WA.
