PERTH’S Consumer Price Index increased by 2.9 per cent through the year to December 2004, to stand 0.9 per cent higher than in the September quarter.
This is the largest annual increase in consumer prices since September 2002.
Across all 8 capitals, consumer prices increased by 2.6 per cent in the four quarters to December 2004 – the largest increase since September 2003.
Prices increased by 0.8 per cent between September and December.
The Reserve Bank of Australia's “trimmed mean” estimate of Australia's core inflation was 2.4 per cent for the year, and 0.7 per cent for the quarter, to December 2004.
