303’s healthy win

303 Advertising has been awarded more than $2 million in government advertising in the past weeks.

The agency was last week reinstated as The Department of Health’s agency for its nutrition and physical activity accounts, estimated to be worth $1.3 million.

Previously the two accounts were treated as two separate tenders, which 303 won two years ago. This year, however, the two accounts were put under the one tender. The contract is for two years.

303 Advertising has also recently won a joint contract for the Electoral Commission account. The Government’s estimated price for the contract is $1.1 million and includes advertising and public relations activities. Riley Matthewson Public Relations won the public relations component of the contract.

Cowan gets Access

COMMUNITY television station Access 31 has appointed former deputy premier and State minister Hendy Cowan as chairman.

Mr Cowan takes over from Bill McGinnis, who will take on the role as vice-chair after six years as chairman.

Mr Cowan said that, while Access 31 had experienced financial difficulty, the future of the station was promising.

“Access 31 is now well positioned with its permanent licence, new premises, improved reception and ever growing audience to build further on its valuable local service,” Mr Cowan said.

He said Access 31’s role in WA has become increasingly important.

“The centralisation of production by all other TV services in the eastern States has relegated WA to the almost spectator status. The role of Access 31 is crucial in resisting that trend, that way ensuring that WA ideas, faces, and stories will always have a place on the Perth airwaves.”

Creative budgeting

JDA Creative has beaten two other bidders to secure the State Budget campaign advertising. According to JDA Creative director Ron Samuel, the tender stipulated that the production of the ads would be no more than $25,000 and that’s what they’ve provided. Five variations of the ‘One-dollar budget’ commercial will screen in the coming weeks. Media spend for the campaign is $125,000.
