AME Lead & Zinc Mine Costs

The AME Mineral Economics Lead & Zinc Mine Costs 1997-2007 report analyses the cost structures of 87 mines and advanced projects in 22 countries.

In 2002, these operations are estimated to have collectively produced 5.5 million tonnes of zinc and 1.7 million tonnes of lead, both equal to 84 per cent of Western world output.

Zinc production costs have been driven down by miners still facing record low prices.

The outlook remains bleak, but lead may benefit from a possible small supply deficit.

Pasminco and Teck Cominco are the top two zinc producers by volume, and Doe Run the largest mined lead producer.
