The Australia Indonesia Business Council will host a lunch with the Indonesian ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Imron Coton on Thursday August 5 at the WA Club.
The event, entitled Australia-Indonesia - Close Neighbours and Good Friends, will explore the sometimes bumpy relations with Australia.
Discussion will range from speaking about times when relations have been strained to the more recent involvement and co-operation between countries after the Bali bombings and smuggling in of ‘boat people’.
Another topic on the agenda is the trade interest between the two nations, given that WA alone has joint trade of over AUD$2 billion each year.
The discussion will explore where Australia currently stands in relation to Indonesia and what the future holds; where will relations go from here?
