Independence Group MD on leave

Gold and nickel miner Independence Group’s managing director Chris Bonwick has taken a second stint of special leave this year.

Mr Bonwick took personal leave during March and April this year, and the company announced today he has taken leave for health reasons.

Independence Group said it would update the market in due course with Mr Bonwick’s return date.

Mr Bonwick’s duties will be carried out by group operation manager Brett Hartmann who has taken on the title of acting chief executive.

Non-executive chairman Peter Bilbe will assist with daily management duties. 

Independence Group shares were down 1.8 per cent at $3.66 following the announcement.
