In Brief: New waste plan

THE Master Builders Association of WA has launched a waste management guide for the commercial construction industry, to help businesses cut disposal costs and meet their contractual obligations. The guide, which was compiled in a joint venture with the state government’s ‘Towards Zero Waste’ program, contains practical advice on waste management, including a template management plan and checklist. It also provides a directory of recycling companies in WA. MBA of WA business development manager, Geoff Cooper, said builders and subcontractors were increasingly required by clients and planning authorities to sort construction waste. “We are aiming to increase the current recycling level of 18 per cent of construction and demolition waste,” he said.
