In Brief: Gold an exercise in Subiaco style

FOLLOWING on from the successful opening of a number of small bars in the area, Subiaco is set to host a new exclusive late night lounge bar. The new bar, called Gold, is the reinvention of the new managers of Under the Sea, on Rockeby Road in Subiaco. Managing consultant Shaun Eaton said the venue would create a new benchmark in nightlife for Western Australia, incorporating the best elements of stylish clubs around the world. “We’ve created a unique space where those who like to stay up late can relax in a stylish and comfortable environment,” Mr Eaton said. The extensive refurbishment was designed by awarded Perth architect Barry Baltinas, who was also the man behind the recent refurbishment of the popular Court Hotel in Northbridge. Key elements include a flowing black, Corian bar and raised lounge seating areas, complemented by lush fabrics and furnishings. Catering for just more than 100 people, Gold will be the first club in WA to offer bottle service, with highly acclaimed French champagne, Salon, at $1,000 a bottle topping the list. Opening night is Saturday July 19.
