In Brief: Austal wins $82m order

Austal Ltd has announced an $82 million contract for four 47.5-metre passenger catamarans with Cotai WaterJets Ltd (Macao), additional to the initial 10-vessel contract signed in 2006 by sister company, Venetian Marketing Services Ltd. At the completion of Cotai WaterJet’s 14-vessel order, the number of Austal vessels delivered to China and Hong Kong waters will have grown to 52. The new vessels will be identical to those currently under construction at Austal’s Henderson shipyard and will be delivered in the first half of 2009. “It is a pleasing start to the year to see the Cotai WaterJet order expand to 14 ferries based on the success of the initial deliveries already operating between Hong Kong and Macau,” executive chairman John Rothwell said
