OSBORNE Park-based Immersive Technologies, which manufactures advanced simulator training systems for the mining industry, has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Japanese company, Hitachi Construction Machinery. The agreement allows for an exchange of technical data between the two companies. It follows Immersive’s signing of a similar alliance agreement with another Japanese company, Komatsu Ltd, in November last year. Other mining equipment manufacturers to have signed agreements with Immersive include Caterpillar Inc, P & H Mining Equipment Inc, Bucyrus International Inc and Liebherr Mining Equipment. Immersive Technologies chief executive officer Peter Salfinger said the agreement confirmed there was widespread industry support for the company’s AE simulator. “This new agreement means HCM mining equipment controls, relevant onboard systems and operating protocols can be simulated accurately. It further validates Immersive Technologies’ position as the preferred global platform for simulator training in the mining industry,” he said. Immersive Technologies has more than 110 AE simulators in use by mine operators and contractors worldwide and exports to 20 countries.
