IR laws into force

A new industrial regime came into force this week amid protests from the ACTU and new concerns from business about implementation. The protests aimed to highlight the changes to unfair dismissal laws and the potential threat to worker entitlements. At the same time, the Federal Government announced it would be appointing four part-time members at a cost of $39,000 each per year to the new Fair Pay Commission to consider the broader economic impact of the minimum wage rise.
