INTERNATIONAL Goldfields, based in Leederville, is currently evaluating the economics of mining its Marda Central gold project, located in the eastern Goldfields, following promising resource estimates and access to new infrastructure.
The project, comprised of six main deposits, is situated approximately seven kilometres north of Portman Mining’s iron ore mining operation at Mount Jackson.
IGL sees the close proximity to Portman’s operations, camp and newly installed infrastructure as favourable to potentially mining at Marda Central.
The gold miner’s pre-feasibility study has revealed an estimated total mineral resource of approximately 1.6 million tonnes of gold at an average grade of 2.3 grams per tonne, with total contained gold totaling 123,000 ounces.
