Two local not-for-profit groups have announced changes to their leadership today, with UnitingCare West appointing Amanda Hunt as chief executive from March next year while St Vincent de Paul Society WA chief executive Mark Fitzpatrick will leave that role in February.
Mr Fitzpatrick will become chief executive of Telethon Speech & Hearing Centre For Children WA after five years at SVP.
He will succeed Richard Duldig, who was made acting chief executive of the Telethon centre after joining its board earlier this year.
SVP state president Bob Burns said Mr Fitzpatrick had worked tirelessly to progress the mission of the organisation, and create a culture to help achieve it.
“Mr Fitzpatrick has made a very significant positive impact on the Society,” Mr Burns said.
“He was recently approached by another organisation to drive their vision and mission.
“Mr Fitzpatrick has a personal connection with their cause and has decided that he would like to pursue this opportunity.
“Mr Fitzpatrick has expressed his keen desire to continue involvement with the society and once things have settled for him, will seek to volunteer his time, either as a member or in other ways.
“We wish Mr Fitzpatrick well in his new endeavour.”
The organisation will be seeking a replacement.
UnitingCare’s services include helping the homeless, mental health services and offender re-entry support.
Sue Ash has served as chief executive since 2013, and will serve until April to provide time to handover to Amanda Hunt, who has been state manager WA & SA of Mission Australia for two years.
UnitingCare West’s chairman Peter Fitzpatrick said Ms Hunt was well respected in the WA community services sector and had experience in a range of services provided by the organisation.
